| I visited this pub in the early evening whilst waiting to meet someone nearby. I had already traipsed around the slightly depressing environs of Hampstead Road and very nearly walked past as the pub looked closed. However, I could just see some shadows inside so tried the door and, yes, they were open. A good choice of beer and a good menu - although the prices seemed high even for London. My pint of Doom Bar was in good condition and I spent the time pleasantly enough. When I left the outside lights had been switched on and the place looked much more inviting - but the dim and trendy lighting inside does the place no favours as it really does look closed - even from only 50 yards away. | I'm still surprised by the lack of reviews this place gets. It was much more busy than my previous visit nearly 2 years ago. So maybe it is becoming more well known. Situated not far from the Euston Tap and the Bree Louise, it's certainly worth a try if you're in the area. The beer range has also improved since my first visit. Purity Ubum Acorn Sorachi Ace IPA, Oakleaf IPA, Itchen Valley Godfathers & Sharps Doom Bar were all on. Alas, the Addlestones and Old Rosie ciders were no longer present. Aspalls is the next best offering. blue_scrumpy - 27 Nov 2011 13:03 |
| It's May 10th 2011 so time for another review i think. I'm sat in the pub now enjoying a pint of Trade Winds (£3.50). They didn't mind giving me a taster, though it was a tiny shot. There are five ales to choose from, no great surprises for the area, but better than most places. Also plenty of European lagers so plenty for everyone. I'm here in the middle of the afternoon so can't really comment on the ambience as there are only a few people here. The music is quirky and the decor feels like it is trying also. Food menu is trendy pub fare but all sounds pretty good and reasonably priced for the area. Would try it in the evening if i was in the area. stopthenames - 10 May 2011 16:28 |
| nice pub for a Saturday/Sunday afternoon drink, bout 1ish the sun on the right side to sit outside. Way to busy on a weekday evening, full of snotty looking banking and media types. Still ok if you dont mind standing. Foods good, although a little expensive (sometimes) Selly - 3 Apr 2011 23:43 |
| Was there again on Friday, nice pints of Doombar, good place to stand outside. Service seemd a bit random but one barman seemed to care about his customers so that's a plus! zabadak - 24 May 2010 12:41 |
