| Went for an evening meal on a Thursday. The landlord was very welcoming and friendly. Clean and tidy, and nicely furnished. I had the grilled chicken, my friend has lasagne. We both enjoyed our meals and it was just enough to eat. The prices were a little expensive but we were not dissapointed by the food. daj - 31 May 2011 19:06 |
| I have no idea why this is in the Good Beer Guide. It's a soulless pub chain pub with a couple of real ales on, but no more than what many pubs in Shropshire have. In fact when I went on a Thursday afternoon half the hand pumps were out. The clientele appeared to be almost entirely middle class retired/semi-retired folk chattering away over a glass of wine and some over-priced microwaved grub. | Went earlier in the week with Mrs Wolf, and it is a clean, decent pub, but entirely soulless. Good selection of beers on though including Wags to Witches and Keltek's Magik. | This pub is a long walk from the station, but I decided to go as according to CAMRA’s GBG 2009 this is Ember Inns flagship pub. Well I’m sorry, but that says a lot about Ember Inns. It’s a bland conversion of what looks like a very large old house. It has the typical logs in the wall, cheap and nasty prints and generic furniture that a lot of their places have. It’s major difference apparently is that they have a large range of cask ales on. They do, there are 9 handpumps, six were being used, one of them had an interesting beer on, Kelburn Red Smiddy, the rest were boring e.g. London Pride & Brew XI. It was full of people who have no imagination when it comes to pubs, eating bland bought in food. For’s god’s sake if you want a curry then go to a decent Indian restaurant not a pub!
