Pleasant back street community pub. Clean & tidy with a stone floor. Single room but split into different sections. Deuchars IPA plus 2 other handpumps which were not in operation. 2 TV's both showing football.

The whole building was moved a couple of hundred yards - lock, stock and (er) barrel in the 1960s. Interestingly, Buckingham's ghost moved with it! Said to be very anti-student in the 70s but on the couple of occasions I visited I wasn't made to feel too unwelcome.

Went in to watch the Leeds match a few weeks ago. The place was packed but it was a good time. Good spacing in the pub and a nice selection of beers to choose from including a well kept Deuchars IPA. I'll be back next year when Leeds wins again.

LEEDS! LEEDS! LEEDS!

Popped in for a swift half early in the day - like you do. Didn't really see the point of this pub, could be anywhere and doesn't make the most of its features. Overall, fairly indifferent but inoffensive.

Nice little comfy pub, mainly locals, just off the hen-night / stagger circuit of Micklegate. Good range of beers, but a young barman not very knowledgable.
Currently opens up at 4pm (temporary?).; Doesnt do food at the moment. very sport oriented showing major rugby and football games.

Was called the Plumbers Arms some years ago. It also has a well known ghost, the Duke of Buckingham, who tried to turn lead into gold years ago. Many customers report seeing him still sat by the fire - where some shiny substances can be seen glinting at the back.... but the current manager doesnt seem to want to talk about this. (Maybe he has seen him himself and is scared?).
Potentially one of the best pubs in York.
